Sangyang Industry Co., Ltd. (Sanyang) was founded in 1954 in Taipei, Neihu and initially started as a bicycle generator lights manufacturer. At that time, Sanyang sat in a small old 100m2 office with only 10 employees. Throughout the past 50 years, Sanyang, by constantly reminding itself to follow under the guidance of divined spirit of diligence, has managed to come to where it stands now - an internationally-recognized organization with solid foundation of leading technologies, professional experiences and 2400 employees dispatched worldwide.
Considered as the pioneering manufacturer in Taiwan's motor vehicle industry, Sanyang is the first and so far the "only" company who makes both motorcycles and cars. From its core business function as a vehicle production company, Sanyang, along the years, has also accumulated a vast range of important assets such as customers who are fond of Sanyang's motorcycle (SYM) products, wide marketing channels, management professionals, and well-established international relations across the globe.
Moreover, in order to fulfill the mission of bringing superior products to the society where it serves, Sanyang plans to set off Taiwan as the business headquarter to monitor and deploy resources over its production bases in Taiwan, China and Vietnam. The ultimate goal is to become a company that is "globally localized" (orders from Taiwan, shipping from local production sites). By strategically utilizing resources efficiently, Sanyang hopes to endeavor its goal of becoming the top 10 global motorcycle manufacturers in the near future.
In automobile business, Sanyang aims to strengthen the international brand image of its strategic alliance - HYUNDAI Korea. Since Sanyang not only regards HYUNDAI, as its best business partner in the global frontline but also sees itself casting an important role in HYUNDAI's ambition to build a world-class reputational brand, the goal for Sanyang by year 2010 is to be the top 3 automobile makers in the domestic market.
Next, Sanyang will actively participate in expanding overseas market and building a rich and complete global system network of R&D, production, marketing and service in order to gain international recognition. Meanwhile, for the domestic automobile market, Sanyang will try to strengthen HYUNDAI's market competitiveness and increase its market share with strong determination to endeavor a better future.
